Here are some of the amazing water cycle projects my kiddos did!!

Sound Energy

We had Dr. Dower come visit our class today to talk about sound energy. Basically what my kiddos need to know about sound energy is that it travels in waves.
We demonstrated the way waves move and have nodes.
We recorded our thoughts and predictions just like real scientists!

Unit 3

Unit Summary:
Students use models to develop an understanding of the fraction as equal parts of a whole. Students use fraction models, names, and symbols to describe and compare fractional parts of whole objects, sets of objects, and points or distances on a number line. Students construct models of equivalent fractions.

Big Ideas:

• Fractions represent equal parts of a whole or a set of objects, and can be expressed as a/b.
• Fractions can be represented with models, names, and symbols.
• Fractions can be composed and decomposed into the sum of unit fractions.
• A fraction can be represented as a point on a number line between 0 and 1.
• Models can be used to show that fractions with different names can have the same value or represent the same part of a whole.

Word problems

Today we did a scoot about word problems. They had to draw a bar model for each word problem and then solve it. They got 2 and a half minutes at each station before they had to rotate. I had most of them in pairs but a few worked on their owns.

Dr. Dower came today to teach us about how energy can CHANGE matter!!!
