Comparing Fractions

The TEKS for today are:

4.3C determine if two given fractions are equivalent using a variety of methods; S
4.3D compare two fractions with different numerators and different denominators and represent the comparison using the symbols >, =, or <; R

Today we compared fractions with different denominators.
We first find the least common denominator (LCD)
Then we convert each fraction so that the denominators are the LCD.
Then we can compare the fractions.
So the LCD of 10 and 6 is 30.
I have to multiply BOTH the denominator and the numerator.
Then I can compare the fractions.

The LCD of 7 and 10 is 70.
